I attended Bridgemary secondry modern school from 1964/65 untill 1967/68 when I left school I had no job but soon found employment as an apprentice baker at Greens bakery at Hardway in Elson. My first weeks wages were £5.10 shillings, before leaving school I did a paper round for Peter Ready's newsagents and sweet shop in Tukes Avenue for 2 shillings a week this was a seven day's a week job with two deliverys Monday to Saturday and one Sunday morning ,also I had to collect money on Friday evenings My friend and fellow paperboy was Peter Jennings who did the then new Carisbrooke Road estate for 2 shillings and sixpence a week. After my appreniship which lasted three years I joined the Royal Navy as a cook my first draft after training was to H M S Collingwood so I was able to live with my parents and two brothers in Brookers Lane Bridgemary much to the ammusment of  the neighbours. My work as a Verger has now taken me to London where I live with my wife but we still have our house in Rowner Lane which we hope to return to or sell when I retire. My wish is to come back to Gosport when I retire as Gosport will always be home to me and home is always where the heart is bye for now from. I am also a keen Gosport Borough football club supporter and always see them play during the football season when my wife and I visit my family.                        Graham John Brindley
