Other reasons why I am looking after the Gosport Info site.

About 25 to 30 years ago, I felt that as Gosport's shops are spread over the town in small groups, it can take a while to find what you want. I have always lived in Gosport and try to buy in the town. I believe that the more money kept or brought into the town, the better off the population becomes. Even I sometimes find it easier to buy by post, or Internet, others go to Portsmouth or Fareham, where many shops are grouped together. At the time the cost and time involved in gathering, printing and distributing the information in a list of ‘places to buy’ made it impossible.

I have an interest in photography, mainly taking photos of places and buildings, going back to the early 70's, many of the photos were of Gosport. When I started to use the Internet, I wanted to set-up a web site. The idea was to put on my Gosport photos, with some additional information about the town.

I was born at Blake’s Maternity Home Ham Lane, Elson, Gosport, then lived in Ford Rd, The Crossways and now Harcourt Rd, both my parents, Brougham Street and Elson Road, and two of my grandparents, Seahorse Street and Durham  Street were born and lived in Gosport.

Another reason why I am looking after the Gosport Info site.
