In my previous report I made a comment about the site being added to the intranet of a branch of a government department. It is now on that site, which belongs to a training office, bringing students from all over the country. My Gosport site is made available to the staff and students to find out a bit about the town. 

My site has also been put forward to be added to the intranet of another government department, which has branches all over the world. Though I am not able to make commercial gains from the intranet site. I am hoping that the people who see it will remember it in the future, when they or people they know want something from or on the site. As there are far fewer site on the intranet, even though there are less people with access, I have found the number of hits to be much higher than the internet.

I have discovered a business in Portsmouth that has made arrangements with Portsmouth City Council to put some historical records on CD and make them available. These include old electoral rolls, Armed Forces lists, Military photographs and much more. They offer a good rate of commission for sales, either by, or through the agent. The records for Gosport are also included on the CDs.

I have a couple of problems. One is what to show as the cost of the CDs on the site, as a different price shown on the CD for UK, £9.95 and US $19.95, which I make around £14 at the current exchange rate. PayPal charge accounts in dollars, so do I show the price at $19.95 or $14 to give £9.95. This means keeping a close eye on $/£ exchange rates. NEXT PAGE
