I have an interest in photography going back to the early 70s - mainly taking photos of places and buildings. Many of these photos are of Gosport. |

When I started to use the internet I wanted to set up a web site. The idea was to put on my Gosport photos, with some additional information about the town. As I reached the point of publishing the site, I wondered if it would be possible to include an idea I had many years ago. |

About 20 to 25 years ago, I felt that as Gosport’s shop are spread over the town in small groups, it can take a while to find what you want. I have always lived in Gosport and try to buy in the town, as I believe that the more money kept or brought into the town, the better off the population becomes. Even I sometimes find it easier to buy by post, while others go to Portsmouth or Fareham, where many shops are grouped together. At the time, the cost and time involved in gathering, printing and distributing the information in a list of ‘places to buy’ made this proposition impossible. This was one major reason I wanted to set up the web site. |

Getting the information together for the site has taken a lot of time, especially as I want to contact the organisations I want to put on the site, to confirm that they have no objection and to use material only with the copyright owner’s permission. |

I do have more time than most, as I semi-retired in July 2000. The hope is that I will be able to make some money from my hobbies and other interests. The web site has taken more time as I have found that I have become obsessive always wanting more on the site. |

It took 18 months to arrive at the point where the site was ready to be published. I tried a couple of web site building programs, but found when converting to HTML it did not convert properly. NEXT PAGE |
