PREVIOUS PAGE- I considered buying more expensive software, then I found that for the same cost One and One (www.oneandone.co.uk) offered the software, web space, e-mail support and domain names. I have had no problem with their service.

At the time there was little Gosport information on the internet apart from local authority sites. I hope there would be some interest from the many, perhaps hundreds of thousands who have lived here when in the forces, mainly the Navy. This has happened - I recently received an e-mail from someone in Canada who was in Gosport to the age of 11 when his father was in the forces, and was due to visit Gosport in September.

At work I was almost bullied into  using the internet - I already had the computer, but I was worried about the cost. I have found that it cost me around £5 per month for about two hours a week. It takes 30 minutes to upload the site using only 3mbs of the 50 available, so I am thinking of going over to ADSL as it could take eight hours to upload the full site. I have tried to use the ‘publish only amended pages feature’ of the web builder, but when checking it, parts of the site need to be republished.

Another possibility is to use a local internet cafe which has ADSL-I will look to see if they will allow me to put the site on CD then upload it  there. Even paying for an hour a week will be a lot cheaper than the monthly charge.

I seem to have a major problem with my computer about once a year and though I do make full backups, find that they are never as recent as I think. I have recently had a big problem with my main computer (I am writing this on my pocket computer) and lost some data. Unfortunately the full backup was two months old. I have tried to import the site back into Net Fusion web builder, but the headings have been imported as pictures so can no longer be edited, so I am going to have to rebuild from the saved two month old site.                               NEXT PAGE
