1) I have been going through the photo pages to reconnect the photos with the pages, I hope to have them done in the next few weeks, but if you find a page with problems of any kind and you have time,
please let me know. I know people like to see then old photos and some have been emailed some to me to add by visitors to Gosport.info. If you have some that you may wish to have me add, but have some
worries, please contact me. I only put them on up to 25KBs, I believe not the quality for printing. I send higher resolution copies of my photos to use as they wish, (though ask if they can refer to
Gosport.info, if possible) I only send on higher resolution copies of other people's photos after I have asked permission and found out what the person who has asked for it, wants to do with it. I
can password the download of the photos if you have a number of photos that you would be happy to add, but would not want anyone to copy even atthe 25KBs resolution, or you can specify a lower resolution
if you wish.
2) In my last Update Newsletter I asked if anyone would be interested in sending or receiving posters of events. I received a few posters and an events brochure and a couple of people who were happy to
receive them as well as the ones who sent them in. I have received an email from Gareth of the DJK Martial Arts gym which is located at Unit 4, 21 Elmhurst Road, (just off Stoke Road) Gosport. It runs
full time and they have sessions throughout the day time and the evening, we have classes catering for Juniors from 5 years up, as well as Women’s Only, Circuit Training and Fitness sessions. We
have several styles which are taught out of the gym that include Kickboxing, Ju-Jitsu, K1 and Muay Thai. We have a team of semi pro competitors and are governed by W.A.K.O. the largest kickboxing
organisation in the world. All instructors are fully insured, qualified and hold CRB Enhanced Disclosures. Who said, 'Thank you for adding my details and I have recieved the other posters which I
will gladly put up in my gym. Kind regards Gareth Johnson, DKJ Martial Arts. If you may be happy to receive the items, you can print out and display, if you want to. You can always be asked to be removed
from the list at any time or send in your own items to be sent out to others. I will convert them to PDF to make them easier to print. Please let me know.
3) Now is the time for your Christmas and New Year events to be added to Gosport.info What's On, I may also include a list of Christmas and New Year events to the November Update Newsletter, the
current list is 864 email addresses. If you have an event that you would like me to add, please send me an email with the details. If your event would welcome a small stand by Gosport.info, for a
mention, fee or donation, please let me know. I would be giving out leaflets, cards and pens, as well as talking about Gosport.info. I only need space for an upended pasting table and a couple of chairs,
all of which I can bring on my push-bike trailer.
4) I have been told by my brother-in-law that the Update Newsletters 'are boring'. I started with the text type Newsletters as when I started the web site in 2001 a lot of people had dial-up so
HTML Newsletters would have taken too long to download. They can have all the photos and other graphics, fonts and so on. If you would be happy to receive this Newsletter in HTML or feel it would be of
more interest to others, please send me your thoughts.
5) On the 8th of October I added the following to the Gosport.info Blog at http://gosportinfo.blogspot.com/ I was cycling down Leesland Road this morning about 11am, with the trailer loaded with gardening tools and noticed people walking down from the Anns Hill Road end. One had a large camera on his shoulder, another with one of those large furry microphones and another with a large photographic reflector, walking in the front of the group, I believe it was Lucy Alexander from Homes Under The Hammer, though of course I do not know if it was for that programme, I can not see any properties in the road up for auction. It will be interesting to see what it is about. Ian. On the 9th in the evening I put ,' lucy alexander Gosport' in the Google search bar and the Gosport.info blog came up 2nd after BBC, so if you have something you want on the Internet , send in items for the blog and web site.
6) I have something which may be of interest to your audience. I have been using a backup solution for the last 2 years with great success. It has saved my bacon on many
occasions. I was wondering if it would be possible to add a link to it from your site. It is very good for both small businesses and home. www.besthomebackup.com Paul Caldwell. I have also tried BT Digital Vault, Humyo, and Diino. The problems I have found is they do not work with Linux, or if you require more than the minimum the cost can go up, or the uploading stops after a short time. I will give the one suggested by Paul a go when I have the time to take advantage of the 15 days free trial. Best regards Ian Jeffery
