1) I wish to thank Philip Dimon of Dimon's Estate Agents www.gosportproperty.co.uk for the donation of a thousand 2009 calenders. I have dished out most of them, but have a few left so if you would like one, let me know and I will send them out, while stocks last.Sorry I am behind with my Gosport.info emails, I hope to catch up next week, but please keep the information coming .

2) St John’s C of E (Aided) Primary School, formally known as Grove Road School, between 1909 and 1967, is 100 years old this year. The school will be arranging a number of events to celebrate the Centenary. A Street Party for the Children in the playground, a Raffle with 100 prizes, 100 Shoe boxes for Charity and an open day on Friday 26th June when the children will be on hand to show invited guests our school, between 10am and 3.pm. We are also hoping to plant a number of trees to celebrate the event. And a balloon launch. Our Full Governing Body will be assisting with funds, we are also holding fund raising events, however there is always one more thing to pay for. In the event that you are able to help us, it would be most appreciated.

I have penned a potted history of our School as follows; Until 1967 the school was known as Grove Road School, and accommodated infants, juniors and senior pupils during the former years. The former St John’s School was situated next to St John’s Church in Forton Road, Gosport, On relocation to Grove Road the School took the name of St John’s C of E (Aided) Primary School.

We will be inviting the Mayor and Mayoress of Gosport, former Head Teachers, and Teachers, representatives from the Diocese, former Pupils and also the pupils who obtained scholarships whilst at the School in order to attend Gosport County School, (later known as Gosport Grammar School) together with other employees, such as Caretakers, Dinner Ladies and Cleaners who gave long and faithful service to our School.

3) The web site now called Gosport.info has been around since early April 2001, after 18 months setting it up. There were 75,000 visitors in 2008,viewing more that 3 pages per visit. In January 2009 so far 5,300 daily visitors. There are around 2,000 pages on the site and a similar number of Gosport Businesses and Organisations on the site. I would like thank those of you who are willing to accept this monthly email a total of 837. Iknow that I will have to look at the business lists to correct for changes.

4) In the past I have suffered from occasional delays in receiving payment for work done under both my gardening and admin businesses over the8 years, all apart from 3 cases the payments were received. Of these 3 one person went bankrupt, so that is one of those things, another, I helpedwith a web site for a planned new business, in the end I do not think the business started properly and only issued an invoice when he asked forone. The final one last year, was a bit of a surprise, I did some work for 3 months and agreed an amount per case, did a lot of hours bringing hiscomputer and paper records up to date. After issuing the invoice he put in an email, ' you were just not doing the job.' Which I thought was odd asI do work for organisations for free, so why I would not do work that I thought I was going to be paid for. I do not know if something could be arranged towarn people about those that want work done for free. I doubt it, but anyway be as careful as you can be.

5)“The Gosport Buzz website is improving during 2009 and we are currently offering a full page, professional ad for businesses tradingin the local area for just Ł29.95 per year.
