4)  St Vincent History Club has received a grant from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation for a project called “Gosport Railway Station: Its Story”. The idea to produce a DVD and book showing the past and present, including the new developement that is due over the next two years. This will include the railway around Gosport. History, memories, photos. If you have anything  to include in particular your memories please email them to me. Please also advise whether you would be happy to have any items not used in the project to be added to Gosport.info ,

5)  I have received  emails from Gillian Pitter (nee Murphy) grand-daughter of Henry Murphy of 8 North St. She has supplied an article about the shop history and her memories of the shop, which I hope to have on the web site from next weekend, there will also be the following. I have been researching my family history for some while now and would be interested in any memories that Gosport people may have of my Grandfather and Father or the shop. I ask this because I am trying to compile a book for my children and any relative that may be interested. I do have photos taken of Gosport in 1968/70 which I would be willing to share. Unfortunately I do not have any of 8 North Street, so would like to appeal to anyone to share theirs with me.My family name is Murphy and I was born in Blake’s Maternity Home in 1946.
My father’s name was George and my mother Iris nee Orchard. I would be grateful if any reader knows my cousin Susan to ask her to contact me through this web site. I last saw her before my father died in 1982.I went to Brockhurst Infant and Junior School and then went to Grove Road School for Girls. When it was decided to join three schools to create the first comprehensive school I went to what I always called Daisy Lane School where I took my GCE’s. If anyone remembers me Gillian Murphy from those days I would like to hear from you. Gillian Pitter (nee Murphy)

Best wishes,
Ian Jeffery
