1) I have bought the updated web site building software and with comes a facility to semi-automatically create photo galleries. You will recognise the areas
where I have used this, as the thumbnail photos are in what looks like a slide mount. Click on a photo or its title and you are taken to a page with a larger version of that photo. You can use the arrows above the
larger photo to go through a gallery of all the photos on the thumbnails page or use the centre arrow to go back to the original thumbnail page.
2) I have now put both chapter 4 and 5 of the St John's School and Forton District book by Mrs O E Turner on the site. I have also updated to download
version to include chapter 4 and 5, sorry still only in MS Word format.
3) Thank you to Mr P Holman-Smith for his item about 'The Gosport Bristows' showing some insight to the lives of a Gosport family around a 100 years
ago. I understand that he is a professional writer so you will find it to a better standard than you are used to on the site.
4) The new software allows forms to be produced an I have used it to try and produce a comments form. I am sorry but I have found that I have not made it
work yet. I have also tried a few other things on the message page, one that does work is the site map, click on the box and it shows every page on the site without me updating it. It shows it in a two ways, the
flow chat is not too useful but the other works well, but to link direct to the page you would have to use the old flow type site map, which I will try to keep up to date. Have a look at the other things and let me
know what you feel would be of most use.
5) I have added a map of Gosport to the site. The date shown on the map is 1832. As the map is too big for one page, there is a low quality map of the whole
of Gosport on one page, but if you click an area on that map it will take you to a more detailed map of that area, still from the 1832 map.
6) I have been asked for a photo of the 'National Children's Home' in Alverstoke, but I have not been able to find one. I have also been asked the name of
the Regiment that was at Fort Moncton during the 1860's. I have looked through the books I have and in the library, with no luck. Are you able to help with either request. Thank you.
