1) Gosport Council's decision to allow local residents FREE entry to Explosion the Museum of Naval Firepower in Priddy's Hard, Gosport has proved to be a big hit with Gosport residents.

Official Museum figures show that the Museum had 103% more visitors this January compared to that of January 2008. Many of these extra visitors are local people from Gosport, who since the 3rd of January 2009, have been offered free entry to the Museum as part of a new scheme developed by Gosport Borough Council. The Chairman of Gosport Council's Community & Environment Board, Councillor Peter Chegwyn, said "free entry to this fascinating Museum not only provides local residents with an opportunity to see rare Naval Weapons from over two hundred years, but it's also a glimpse into the lives affected by the dangerous work undertaken at this historic site. We are delighted that so many Gosport Residents have visited the Museum due to the FREE admission offer and we hope more will do so before the offer ends on March 31."The Museum is open at weekends only. FREE ENTRY to Gosport Residents only when proof of residency is shown on arrival. For more information on the Museum please telephone 023 9250 5600 or visit www.explosion.org.uk.

2) Do You Value Your Volunteers? Then nominate them for a well-earned Volunteer Certificate, which the Mayor Elect will present to them at 6pm on Tuesday 9th June 2009 in the Council Chamber at the Town Hall!
If your volunteers have completed 100 hours, 1 year, 5 years, 10 years or a Lifetime’s service, they will be eligible for a certificate. Young Volunteers only need to have volunteered for 25 hours or more. Finally, don’t forget those businesses that have supported your group by fundraising, taking clients on an outing or doing practical work. 3) I have now caught up with the emails that I have received over the Christmas and New Year period. If you have sent me an email for Gosport.info but have not received a  reply, please would you send a duplicate.  I am very grateful  for all the emails that I receive, in particular those with information, memories and photographs. I did receive about 80 undelivered emails for the January update email, I will still send this to them as I only delete the email addresses where 2 months come back undelivered. If you do change your email address and wish to keep receiving emails from Gosport.info, monthly updates and where replies have been received to any enquiries for your items on Gosport.info, please advise me of your new address.

5) I noticed, after being asked about  the Haslar Heritage Group, that the  pages of information from them had gone wrong, I think I have sorted them out. If you spot other pages with similar problems, please let me know.

6) I would like to thank Ada Brodie for inviting me to take some photos from the top of Harbour Towers. As I took them with my film camera, it may be a few weeks before I add them to Gosport.info.
