1) I was wondering if anybody remembers the dancing schools "Sunshine Kiddies" and "Marina Juveniles" ? If my memory serves me correctly, the former school was near
the Ferry Gardens, but I cannot remember the name of the Road. We used to wear pale green dresses with a flared skirt and an red embroidered emblem encircled in red on the bodice. The other school I think was either
at Nicholson Hall, or nearby, I think a Mrs. Sainsbury played the piano for us. Wendy Atkins
2) NCH would like to announce the launch of the Extended Family newsletter and the
Extended Family website, which contains information on the Alverstoke branch. The NCH “Extended Family” includes Old Boys & Girls - people formerly in branches of our children’s homes and former NCH staff. We
also think of lifelong supporters and Methodists as family and important to the heritage and future of NCH. The term “Extended Family” is derived from an NCH publication by
that name, which ran from 2000 to 2004 - before that, the magazine was called “Our News”. The Extended Family magazine will be published twice a year, and our goal is to continue the tradition of regular
communication with the lifelong supporters who are so important to our work. In this spirit, we have also launched a website for the Extended Family, where you can read about all the updates and news, view pictures
and videos, and contribute your own stories and materials. If you have access to the internet, we encourage you to visit this website at: www.myspace.com/extended_family. Please feel free to contact the Extended Family team at NCH directly with comments, suggestions, or contributions, atextended.family@nch.org.uk or on 020 7704 7175.
3) Have you recently moved into the area from abroad? Are you feeling isolated? Are you unsure about what happens in your child's school, what procedures you need to follow to
gain access to services, how you can learn the language or get training for a job? Whatever you worries or anxieties, we aim to help you and your family however we can. We would love to know your views about getting
a regular group up and running to help each other. Pop in and see us in the cafe, have a drink, a snack and a chat Monday 17th March at the Discovery Centre from 4 til 8 pm. The above event is being put on
jointly by Brune Park, Bay House and Bridgemary. It will also be supported by St Vincent College, Gosport Borough Council and Gosport Voluntary Action. Publicity flyers will be circulating soon, with translations in
several other languages. If you need any more information, please contact me. Lauren Stevens, Extended Learning Co-ordinator, Brune Park Community College, Military Road, Gosport, Hampshire, PO12 3BU, 02392 616000
