2) I am sorry to bring this all up again, but it is the 1st time I have been
responsible for the Gosport Carnival from Walpole park and there are some things that I do not seem to be up to. I have not been able to track down enough floats, the ideal would be the large curtain-sided lorries,
but any suggestions are most welcome, trucks, trailers etc., you would be able to advertise at the event and on the parade, you will get mentions on the PA and in the programme. I understand that it must
be very costly to provide a vehicle and driver, so if you are a business without a suitable vehicle, but would like to help, perhaps you could sharer the cost of one and the advertising. Any help is most welcome,
from putting up a poster to whatever you would be happy to do. Are you involved with a band group, musicians/ dancers who would be able to add atmosphere to The Parade and perhaps do a short display in the arena
please let me know, also if you are involved with a local group and would be able to do an area display of what you do, go on the parade or have a stall, please let me know.. Thank you.
3) I feel that
it is felt that the only memories of Gosport that some want to send in are from the past, I think the latest are for the 60's/ 70'. I would be happy to receive memories/ articles from the past right up to
today. I have tried to make arrangements the keep the site going as long as possible, so I think people in the future will find the thoughts of today interesting, in particular as with memories produced close
to the time of the event they are not going to be as effected by time. An example of this is the article about the Spinnaker Tower by 'George Fratton' after being away from Gosport for, I think 31 years. I have now
received my copy of his book 'Lets Swap Legs', by George and hope to read it soon. Links to both the book and the article can be found on the 'Home Page'. Ian Jeffery www.gosport.info
