The News Portsmouth ran an article about the Gosport Community Web Site, I thought I would send a letter about mine as I do not feel the reasons behind mine were any different. As you
have supported me and the site in your own way, I thought I would send you a copy of my letter as I feel you should know what I have put, in case they don’t print it or print part of it.
I enjoyed your article about the new Gosport Community web site at www.gosport.com. In your article you suggest that it was the first site to publicise Gosport businesses and
organisations.
I have had a site since April last year at www.gosport.info, though under a different address to November. I offer a listing for all Gosport businesses and organisations, including up to
a page of information and photos as well as a list of What’s On for all Gosport non-business organisations, all at no charge. I am also preparing a ‘Job Vacancy in Gosport’ section.
As I have contacted all the businesses and organisations on the site, to ensure that they have no objection, it has taken me this time to reach around 400 businesses and over 100
organisations. I also have Gosport photos, history, stories about Gosport and the people of Gosport on the site. I have also provided information about Gosport to those who have contacted me, often where they or
their ancestors have lived in Gosport in the past.
I met the person who is creating the site for Gosport Borough Council. We feel the sites will compliment each other and it will mean if one site is no longer able to run, the other will
be there for the benefit of Gosport and Gosport people, wherever they are in the World. Both sites will have links to each other and it cannot do any harm for businesses and organisations to be on two sites. I
believe you add your details to the gosport.com site via the web site. Adding information to mine can be via e-mail, letter or telephone.
