My prayers have all been answered I leap on the vessel with glee, I'm proud as I stand facing windward As we
journey our way out to sea.
I turn my gaze back to the jetty where my Mother gives me a fond wave. This is a moment to treasure while I'm being
incredibly brave.
Again I turn my face seaward and wonder what perils await. The grey waves are really quite mighty
I hope that soon they'll abate.
The coastline is now very distant there's a large choking lump in my throat. The wind is giving me goosebumps. I wish I'd remebered my
coat.
I know quite a bit about Nelson in fact that's his ship over there. And there's the Isle Of Wight
ferry :but I had'nt enough for the fare.
The ropes are now thrown to the pontoon and people are quick to alight. But I'm standing fast on the ferry I
have to get home tonight.
You see, today is my birthday this has been a bit of a treat. I've always wanted to
travel, I believe its called itchy feet.
We are now on our voyage homeward, and Gosport has come into view. Mum is waving her hanky she's looking a bit
tearful too.
She asks if I had a good journey and was surprised how brave I could be. But now we really should hurry and get home in time to
have tea.
As I said today is my birthday and I feel as though I've been to heaven. I've travelled alone for the first time. Not bad when you're
only aged seven.
