This is a photo of my granddad taken in 1915, he was a member of the scout association in Gosport, a short bit from the Gosport standard on Thursday august 3rd 1978.
It was a proud day for Sam [ Sam Tomlinson] 6th Gosport troops in January 1915 when one of his lads, Percy Durrant, dived into the harbour to save a child from drowning.
a special certificate and medal of merit was awarded to Percy by the district commissioner, colonel Martin. I think he was the 1st scout to be awarded in Gosport.. Brian
