My great grandmother Emma Wavell was christened in Gosport Holy Trinity on 5th November 1817--- if my record is correct--- the daughter of Edward Wavell, a
butcher, and Hannah Emily (Hooper) Wavell . She eventually married my great grandfather Thomas Sanderson in Alverstoke in 1841. They emigrated to the USA ca 1953, settling in Tennessee,
where I now live, not far from where they lived and are buried. Their daughter Ann married my grandfather George Washington Brakebill.
Being married to a Scots lady, I have made many happy trips to the UK, but sadly, never made it to Gosport nor Alverstoke, but I do feel a link to your Church and town.
