We are a Registered Charity, and (unlike the Army and Air Force Cadets) are not fully sponsored by MOD so have to raise all our own
funds.
Our Headquarters is in the old MOD telephone exchange, now refurbished by Berkeley Homes, in Cooperage Green, Royal Clarence Yard,
Weevil Lane. We are in the business of training boys and girls from 10 to 18 and our umbrella organisation, The Sea Cadet Corps, has over 400 units in the UK all of which are individual
Charities.
Our Organisation's motto is "Serious Fun". The Sea Cadets are the oldest youth organisation in the country and can offer a
very broad spectrum of activities and terrific opportunities for young people to develop their potential.
Our Unit has been going since 1946. We are always on the look-out for recruits - which would also include adult volunteers for
various types of duties, such as Parents & Friends who assist with Tuckshops and other fund-raising activities, and people with particular skills (eg communications, boating, Duke of
Edinburgh qualifications, etc) who could be Instructors.
The Unit meets from 1900 - 2100 on Tuesday and Friday evenings at the Headquarters and there are activities on a lot of weekends during
the summer.
