The Gosport Museum was founded in 1975 to record all aspects of the history of Gosport from the earliest times to the present . In 2005 it joined with the Central Library to become part of the new Discovery Centre where displays, graphic panels, computer images and artefacts continue to tell the story of Gosport. The former Museum building opposite the Discovery Centre is now a Local Studies Centre with a wealth of books, maps, photographs and documents as well as housing the Hamphire Geology Collection, including fossils which are millions of years old. |

The Friends of Gosport Museum - was founded in 1991 to: - support the work of the museum - encourage the public to learn about and enjoy the unique history of their town. For Friends there are: - Around three public lectures each year, - An annual coach trip to a Stately Home or other place of interest, - A Summer Social, - A Christmas Tea-party, - Regular informative Newsletters Annual Subscription is; Individuals - £5.00 Families - £7.50 |
