The Club started as the Gosport Cine Club, catering for home 8mm moviemakers, way back in 1964. Over the years we have progressed from Standard 8 film, first silent, then with synchronised tape sound, eventually to Super8 with stereo sound on magnetic stripe on the film. As we entered the 90's, our members one-by-one graduated to video via VHS, 8mm and the "hi-band" formats. The Club name was changed to the Gosport Video and Cine Club, to reflect the change in emphasis. Film took a back seat as we got more involved in video, editing our productions with video recorders, players, titlers and even vision mixers. The advent of digital editing using computers, or one-box systems such as the Casablanca & Avio, have transformed our ability to produce well edited movies with fully-mixed stereo audio accompaniment. Most of us now use the recent DV format, which gives even better results and integrates perfectly with digital editing systems.

If you have a video camera or camcorder or are considering purchasing one and are interested in the art of video movie-making, this club is for you.   Activities include talks, demonstrations and practical sessions.  A number of competitions are held for members, and we also participate in events with other video groups in the area.   Being a member of a club, enables a newcomer to video, to access the wide range of experience of existing members, with help and advice covering all aspects of video, from conventional equipment and techniques to editing and animation using the latest computer-based systems.

We meet at the Hardway and Elson District Community Association (HEDCA), Coombe Road, Gosport 7.30pm on alternate Tuesdays from September to July.   Coombe Road is reached from Brockhurst Road via Chantry Road and Palmryra Road.   The meeting room is on the ground floor, so is readily accessible by wheelchair.

Subscription and fees: £10 per annum plus £1.50 each meeting attended.
