The Club started as the Gosport Cine Club, catering for home 8mm moviemakers, way back in 1964. Over the years
we have progressed from Standard 8 film, first silent, then with synchronised tape sound, eventually to Super8 with stereo sound on magnetic stripe on the film. As we entered the 90's, our members one-by-one
graduated to video via VHS, 8mm and the "hi-band" formats. The Club name was changed to the Gosport Video and Cine Club, to reflect the change in emphasis. Film took a back seat as we got more involved in
video, editing our productions with video recorders, players, titlers and even vision mixers. The advent of digital editing using computers, or one-box systems such as the Casablanca & Avio, have transformed our
ability to produce well edited movies with fully-mixed stereo audio accompaniment. Most of us now use the recent DV format, which gives even better results and integrates perfectly with digital editing systems.
