Ordnance Survey - Details of Maps available

Old Hampshire Maps Large selection of old maps include Gosport

We would be happy that a link to our website is included in your list. BUT: I think we have a lot more than just Greenwood to offer. The Old Hampshire mapped site has 4 maps at 1 inch to 1 mile; Taylor 1759, Milne 1791, Ordnance Survey first series 1810s but probably editions about 1840s and Greenwood 1826. There are many other maps as well, from 1575 through to the early 19th century, showing Gosport is less detail, of course.  Martin

EG. Gosport on the Taylor 1759 - Warning may take a while to download.

You should know about a companion site:-which is a Historical Gazetteer of Hampshire, with an entry under Gosport, and other entries for nearby places.

- I have been having a look at your website again. Specifically I was looking at the maps page and found the links to Old Hampshire Mapped etc. nice and easy to follow. I don't know if you would want to mention this, since your users are by definition online anyway, but on the Discovery Centre has a lot of old maps (C19th/ C20th) and a street name index for them so your more local users could actually get their hands on the maps.
